About South Pelion

The political group "South Pelion –Municipality of Rollovers and Social Solidarity" led by Katerina Tserkezi issued the following announcement:

We thank all citizens of South Pelion who trusted us and voted for us, that in our meetings ,during  all those months of the election period , envisioned with us the progress and outlook that South Pelion could have, who supported and enriched our program with their own suggestions.

We asked (and ask) not only for a change but an overthrow of the current “old-fashioned” establishment and its expression at the Local Government. We failed to convince people to take a step back at their fears about the new, which we represent, and give some space to the hope of a better future for themselves and their place.

However, they gave us the opportunity to have a say in the City Council which is encouraging and makes us responsible towards them. All those months visiting our communities of South Pelion, we met people with whom we shook hands and exchanged our point of views.

We promise that we will be back soon and will have more conversations because our communication with people is what's most important.

Therefore, we proceed with our struggle and we shall be supporting everything good and constructive proposed to the City Council for the region, while criticizing everything unorthodox and outdated. Without hesitation, however, we will conflict with the policies that Troika and the IMF dictate for the Local Government.

Finally, we say that as a group we will not support any of the two candidates of South Pelion next Sunday. Our vision for the place, as said in our program,  is a far cry from their programs , which run under the memoranda and express a government policy of extermination of the  local government, an institution that defines strongly our democratic system.
